Golden Girl

I am still totally obsessed with the SS15 shows and I love so many pieces featured it breaks my heart because I just cannot afford them! So I have decided to take 1 of my fave looks from the Chanel show and give a high street alternative (just in case anyone else is in my poor poor shoes).
Chanel was full of beautiful pieces this year, wonderful androgynous suits, bright clashing prints, and loose fitting pussy-bow shirts. But the one item that stood out for me was this stunning metallic gold jacket.

I fell in love with it immediately, but it might be a bit ‘out there’ for some people. If you want to add some metallic love to your wardrobe without attracting too much attention, this metallic cami from Topshop (£25) is perfect, the bronze tone will suit all skin tones and is perfect for an autumn night out.

As it is getting colder I have matched with:
super ripped jeans- Topshop £45
Barely there sandals- River Island £45
Earrings- Kendra Scott $65 (£40)
And to really finish the look off wrap a beautiful black cape around your shoulders, grab a black and gold clutch and you’re away!
Let me know how you get on!

Auburn Stories is Gone Gone Gone...

Over the past 2 years I have done some severe damage to my hair.. I have dyed it, permed it, got bored and chemically straightened it, bleached it, dyed it again, then because it was ruined I chopped it all off… It would be fair to say my hair probably hated me. I was advised to leave my hair to “just be” for a few months which I did (which is why I’ve been wearing a lot of hats!) And on Friday I finally got to have my hair done, it is a complete change and I love it!
This is my rubbish hair, bad condition, bad colour, and dead ends. The before pic if you will…

So I went to Toni and Guy in Windsor, where my technician Lewis completely renewed my faith in my hair!
I wanted a nice warm Autumnal look so I went for an ombre style colour and just a trim. the dark brown was painted onto my roots then combed through for a natural faded look, then the golden blonde was painted onto the bottom.
And I am so pleased with the result, my hair definitely does not hate me anymore!

If you’re after a great ombre look, this one is fantastic and really on trend, its called balayage brunette ombre. You can use my pics as a guide or just go to your hairdresser and ask for balayage.
I love the way the blonde blends through the front but it stays dark in the back, I would most definitely recommend going to see Lewis in Toni and Guy Windsor, I showed him what I wanted and he did exactly that. My hair looks healthy and the condition is soooo much better! Lets just hope it stays that way!
Let me know what you think.

10 Beauty Tips For The Thrifty Chick

I always see fellow ladies on social media asking for advice on beauty, hair, and make up. How to do this… why does my make up do that… how can i get my hair like this… Now I’m no expert, but I do know a few tips and tricks. Some my mum or my sisters taught me, some are from Pinterest, and some I have just picked up along the way.
These aren’t in any particular order, and some I confess I don’t know the science behind. You might already know some of them but if you at least learn one new trick then we’ve succeeded! So here they are, my 10 beauty tricks for the thrifty chick.
1. If you have oily skin, or skin prone to a bit of shine come midday, stop exfoliating so often! Try to use an exfoliating scrub once maybe twice a week, to stop your skin producing extra oils.
2. When painting your nails, ALWAYS use a base coat, this gives the polish something to stick to and it will stop unattractive staining.
3. In order to make any lipstick matte, apply as normal. Then get some very pale translucent powder and lightly dab it on with you fingers. Don’t wipe it on, just little dabs until it blends in… Voila!
4. If you can never get your eyeliner perfect, draw on the rim of your eyelash curlers with a eyeliner pencil before you curl… There you have it, a perfect eyeliner outline.
5. Sudocrem. Sudocrem is the answer to your questions! If you have a spot, rub a healthy dollop of Sudocrem onto it before bed, when you wake up it will be practically non existent!
6. This only applies to the ladies who tint their eyebrows. Before you apply fake tan, make sure you cover your eyebrows in Vaseline, you don’t want your lovely new tint to turn orange or even worse, green!
7. For a simple way to exfoliate your lips, cover your lips in balm or Vaseline, then get a baby toothbrush (its less harsh) and rub over your lips. Do this for a couple of minutes then leave your lips to calm down for 10 mins. Lipstick ready lips!
8. This is less of a trick and more of a statement. Use eye cream! Especially if you are nearing the 25 years old mark. There is nothing ‘old’ or ‘embarrassing’ about it. We don’t want wrinkles. Simple as.
9. When filing your nails, only file in one direction. Don’t rub the file back and forth against your nail, its a surefire way of it breaking or splitting.
10. Just like the hair on your head, your lashes will respond well to a little heat. Hold your hairdryer up to your eyelash curler for 2-3 mins before you curl, then immediately apply mascara and the gorgeous flick will stay there all day.
So there we go, they may not be beauty breakthroughs, but they all work. Tried and tested beauty tricks. Try them out and let me know how you get on!!
Enjoy!
